Laws were created for the good of the people. I spent twenty-five years of my life in law, assisting through all means available at law and in equity, to help right the wrongs committed upon the weak or the vulnerable, the well-meaning or the unfortunate. Laws are how we make sense of the world when we cannot find agreement — they are a bottom line for human decency and morally guided behavior, grounded in philosophy and social mores.
Democracy is a form of government that gave all peoples and sentient beings a chance to enjoy the benefits of a healthful, vibrant and joyful life. Laws were put in place by those who foresaw the human tendency towards greed, considered humankind’s propensity for violence and aggression. They put into force a mechanism for recourse for all, no matter the economic, social, gender or psychological background. Laws were put there to protect the well being of all, with the weakest in mind.
Without protecting the weakest among us – nonhuman animals inclusive – none of us is free.
To allow Captain Lunatic and company any latitude, freedom of mind and reality to flagrantly violate, ignore and abuse those laws by ignoring them, they – and they are a collective They – are making a clear statement that they will take it all for their own good and means – leaving the rest of us to fend and fight for the scraps.
Creating dissention among those they are “leading” is yet another route to abusing and hoarding power.
Just say no — stand up and fight against abuse of power, before it happens to you.
